Agent Skill

Translate in your agent

A single Agent Skill that does full, judgment-based World English translation — both directions, in any AI coding agent that can read a file. Install once, it stays fresh on its own.

What it is

The in-browser translator on this site is deliberately conservative: it applies only the high-confidence, closed-class rules and flags everything that needs judgment — dropping an article, dropping a third-person -s, resolving a homograph. This skill is the judgment layer. Point your agent at a passage and ask it to translate to or from World English, and it resolves the flagged cases too, using the same published rules a human translator would apply by hand.

It works the same way in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, or any agent that can read a Markdown file — one skill, not one rewrite per agent. Notes are optional: ask for a clean translation, or ask it to explain the changes and it cites the rule behind each one, the same way the samples page does.

Install

Run this once:

curl -fsSL https://worldenglish.tugulab.org/install.sh | sh

It downloads the skill to ~/.agents/skills/world-english-translator/ and, if Claude Code is installed, automatically symlinks it into ~/.claude/skills/. The script is POSIX sh, needs only curl and tar, and is safe to re-run — re-running refreshes the skill in place.

Per-agent wiring

The skill content is the same everywhere — only how an agent discovers it differs.

Keep it fresh (weekly)

The rules keep changing as they're worked out, so the skill is designed to update itself rather than go stale. Answer y when the installer asks about a weekly auto-update, or pass --cron up front:

curl -fsSL https://worldenglish.tugulab.org/install.sh | sh -s -- --cron

This adds a Monday 09:00 crontab entry that re-runs the installer, rewriting the neutral copy — any agent symlinked to it (Claude Code included) picks up the fresh content automatically, with no re-linking needed. Prefer to manage it yourself? The equivalent line is:

0 9 * * 1 curl -fsSL https://worldenglish.tugulab.org/install.sh | sh

Using it

Once installed, just ask, in plain language:
